Our Story

Our company derives from the visionary work of our Owners’ grandfather, Scott William Bonds, who began building and managing properties in El Cerrito, Albany, and the Berkeley Hills back in the 1930s. Scott, the son of an engineer who worked on the canal, was born in Panama on Nov. 25, 1913.

Scott is credited as one of the pioneers of the “garden style apartments,” built around a central swimming pool. He believed renters would gather around the garden and cultivate a sense of community. He also believed renters would enjoy living in an environment that felt like a resort or vacation.
